"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek"
- President Obama
I'm here! I'm in Gloss Angeles.
Yup after talking about it for years I packed up my things, left New York City and traded in the skyscrapers for palm trees. It's hitting me more each day that I am here, that I'm not just staying for a 5 or six day visit and heading back per usual.I was pretty much disgusted and feeling stifled in NYC when I left and now I'm semi sad I won't have days filled with the crowded L train and Union Square, hobo noodles from Lovely Day or great nights at Sweet & Vicious :( and I won't be a quick 10 second walk from a corner store.
Not sure what I'm looking for out here. It strangely just hit me that I might have "escaped" and gotten on this search for something that I'm pretty sure is within me. Very after school special... I know. Nevertheless, I think the move was necessary to kick start some necessary self growth and nurturing and I'm ready. The transition will be rough but I'm welcoming it with open arms.
So far my days have included, endlessly looking for employment, turning my sister into a femme lesbian for a night, of course hiking and as always indulging in food.
The view of Downtown LA from Beachwood Canyon...
Sibling femme-ed out
The palm treesssssss
overflowing hot choc...
(there's a sacred place in my heart for pretty hot drinks that'll give me diarrhea)
Stay tuned for more ramblings and epiphanies...
P.S. my social skills need some work.
